Kieran Trippier says he’s leaving “one of the best leagues in the world” but admits the pull of La Liga was too much to refuse.
The 28-year-old was speaking at his first press conference with his new team after confirming a reported £20m move to Spain.
After penning a three-year deal at Los Rojiblancos, the England international ends a four-year stay at Spurs.
“The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world, but I didn’t think twice when Atletico were interested,” Trippier said.
“It’s a great opportunity to come and live in Madrid. Not many British players come abroad, but I always wanted to play abroad, especially in La Liga, since I was young.
“I want to enjoy playing for Atletico and living in Madrid.”
